Mama's Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Weathermen

So I’ve decided that I should have majored in Meteorology. I mean think about it. Do you have to really ever be right? No. You can just blame it on a front that no one could have seen coming and you’re off the hook! I say this because they’ve been saying for a week we are going to have thunderstorms here. And NOTHING.

Weekend was good. But before I get started on that, I must point out a glaring omission from last weekend’s recap. I got to hang out with Amanda Carter which was totally fun! She came to Kaelen’s and then with me and my sister for crawfish. So I’m sorry for not mentioning a really important part of my weekend last time.

Saturday I went out to Arlington to watch Sam Houston play softball. That was pretty fun cause they have some really great parents that I miss seeing now that Whit is done playing. After the games, Jennifer, Gentry and I went to Pappadeaux for some crawfish. My review on them. Really big crawfish, almost like lobsters. Not taste. Totally bland, no seasoning taste at all. I MAY go back when they do the 2.95 a pound. But otherwise they’re totally not worth it.

Sunday, I did some much needed cleaning around the house. Totally intended to work on some work stuff I brought home but I didn’t do it. Sunday night I met my school group to go bowling for some team bonding. TOTALLY fun. Zane wasn’t able to make it but we still had a really good time.

We finally got some rain here. Of course that made half the population of Dallas idiots that shouldn’t have a driver’s license. School last night dragged on FOREVER. That class is such a beating. Oh well. Good times I guess.

My Weekend Post

Great weekend. Helped out in large part by my good friend Daylight Savings Time. It’s so amazing how much different it is getting into town when it’s just barely turned dark and how much more awake I am. Normally driving in on a Friday it is dark for a good 2-3 hours and by the time I get in, I’m too tired to do anything. But this time, it had only been dark for like 20 minutes so I was good to go. So I met Shannon, Marci, and some others at a bowling alley. I didn’t bowl but I had so much fun just hanging out. This was my first time seeing Shannon since she found out she was pregnant so that was really cool!

Saturday, I got up early, went running, and then made sure I was at my computer by 10am so I could buy Kenny Chesney tickets cause everyone was saying it would sell out. Um, as of 5 minutes ago you can still buy floor seats. So much for that right? But it will be fun.

After all of that, I went to see McKenna. She’s so cute! Long, but tiny. It’s strange. But she was so cute. I got to feed her and everything. And I got to see the twins who are just way fun now. I can’t believe how big they are! Then it was on to Kaelen’s bday party. That was fun. Green beer, tons of food, March Madness on TV… What’s not to love? I left for a while to go eat crawfish with Lacey. They’re finally starting to get bigger. Thank god! Then I went back to the party after I went and let the dogs out. Almost got a ticket for where I parked at Kaelen’s… Luckily the cop was nice and just came to the door and said to move my car.
Yesterday was just basically lunch with my mom and the continuation of my bracket going to hell… We had crawfish and we went to a different location of the same place I’d gone the night before and I think they were bigger. We ate 6 lbs. My mom, who really never eats crawfish, wasn’t quite done after the 4 lbs and wanted more. Go figure.

School last night. Professor had a medical emergency so class was cancelled. So we stayed around and worked on our project a little. We’re going bowling on Sunday! I can’t wait. J

And now, I leave you with a couple pictures of McKenna. :)

Some stuff about me

So, I started a post at work but it's on a word doc and it's not here right now. So for some filler, here are some things you may or may not know about me. In no particular order or course.

1. I'm insanely addicted to shoes. When I make my first million, I'm buying every pair of shoes Steve Madden makes. And probably for Stephanie too. Cause then it won't be weird. :)

2. When I'm driving places, like the Dallas to Houston trip, I have this crazy need to beat my previous time. If it takes more then 4 hours from the time I leave till the time I'm inside my house, I get really mad. I used to do the same thing when we'd go to College Station from Houston. If it took me more then an hour, I was not a happy person.

3. I'm seriously scared of failure. That's my greatest fear ever. I can't stand the thought that I won't be successful at something. Ask my mom about the night before I took my GMAT. Not one of my better nights.

4. I can tell you what the episode of Friends or Seinfeld will be about with in the first 30 seconds of the show. I've seen them all that many times.

5. At work, I hate showing that things upset me. You'll see when I'm pissed, when I'm happy, but very rarely will you see me upset. I'll wait till I get home and cry my eyes out. Then the next day, you'll have no idea how upset I was.

6. Speaking of #5, Extreme Home Makeover makes me cry no matter what. I don't care if I've seen it before, I'll still cry.

7. I've learned that goofy forward emails, have some of the best advice ever. The latest? No matter how good of a friend someone is, from time to time they're going to do something that hurts you. That hit really close to home in the past week. (If you don't already know, don't ask. Cause I won't tell you)

8. I really miss my friends from college. Say what you will about Cougar High, but the 4 years I was there were some of the absolute best times of my life.

9. Sidebar to #8, even though it's been over 3 years now since I've even talked to him, I still miss Brad. Too much sometimes.

10. I think my IPod/ITunes is a genius. I also think it is human and knows me very well. It always plays the best random shuffle. I'm just saying... I don't think that's a coincidence.

11. I think everyone should take one big risk in life. You never know how it may turn out. It may be the best decision you ever made.

Baseball.......

So tonight was the first night of my second 8 week class. It's Managerial Accounting. I know, you're all jealous cause it just sounds awesome! But here's the thing. I think my professor was the inspiration for the turtle in Finding Nemo. I think more Crush then Squirt but... Greatest interaction between those two in that movie...
Squirt: Whoa! That was so cool! Hey dad! Did you see that? Did you see me? Did you see what I did?
Crush: You so totally rock, Squirt! So gimme some fin.
[they slap fins]
Crush: Noggin'.
[bump heads]
Squirt, Crush: Dude!
Anyway, I digress... But he's just so laid back surfer guy. I mean literally, he's like for the project, turn in a piece of paper with your name on it. I don't care. But you just won't get a thing out of this class if you do that. And for the test, it's open note, open hand out. And he's like if I don't write it on the board, it's not important. I mean it's so obvious and easy, someone's totally gonna screw it up. It's like reverse psychology you know? Or it's like it's so laid out there for you, that you set out to be awesome so you don't look dumb.

I'm currently watching the amazing, badassery that is the Astros in preseason baseball. I love that we got out of class at 7 which allowed me to get home and watch. I don't care that it's preseason. I'm downright giddy. And I was before they staged an insane 9th inning comeback to take the lead. Oh Mike Lamb just struck out and railed his bat against the wall. That's how stupid injuries happen. But giddy people. I mean I'm constantly repeating BASEBALL like the Cookie Monster says cookies... just picture it. I mean i think i have the growl and everything. Oh my god I love baseball. It should be all year long. On TV all yeah long. Dude if Hunter Pence doesn't make the team... Homedude is batting .652 for the spring. People... that is freaking amazing! And he's getting at bats. That's not random gimme bats at the end of the game. Stud...
And we have some cute guys. And for those that don't know my theory, I feel there's a direct relation to physical appearance and success in sports. Totally not scientific, just my theory. And yes, there is the Randy Johnson rule to my theory. So I have thought about it. I'm just saying, strictly on physical appearance, come on World Series. Oh and I'm digging that Richard Hidalgo is back. Just cause i like him. No reason.

Can I just say too that my ITunes is rocking a pretty sweet shuffle of music right now. I'm very proud of that. For example, for anyone who hasn't heard it, check out the live version of You'll Think of Me by Keith Urban. So much emotion in that it's beyond insane. ITunes has a great version.

I suppose that's all for now. I pretty much rambled. BASEBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH! I get to go see McKenna Renee Simmons this weekend. CANNOT WAIT. I'll post pictures next week.

Later!

Must read!

Thanks to Marci for showing me this awesome site. This is a friend of Marci's. If the diatribe on Kenny Rogers doesn't get you... then you're just not funny.

I won't lie...

I'm so psyched to see this movie. I'm not even kidding... I don't think I need to say anymore...

Sunday, March 11, 2007

So I finally recovered (I think) from the crappy flu nonsense that was going around. And those that know me, know that I rarely, if ever, get sick. You also know that I do NOT go to the doctor unless I'm just miserable for like a week straight. So it was me, some NyQuil, DayQuil, and sleep. Friday I thought I was actually better but then I got home from work and slept from 630 that night till about 830 the next morning. I think I needed it.

Saturday night I went with Jennifer and Gentry for beer and crawfish. The crawfish are still kind of small but they're getting there. Can't wait for someone to have a boil. Then we went to Fox and Hound and played some trivia, darts, and pool. I'm sadly out of practice on the beer drinking from basically a week and a half. Gonna have to work on that.

School starts back tomorrow. I'm interested to see what happens in class tomorrow cause we had a midterm and he posted the grade but then took it down. I think everyone pretty much did badly. It was to be expected though since he tested us in a completely opposite way of how he taught. So I'm curious.

Lost is still new. On Wednesday there is supposed to be some big connection revealed. My money is on the fact that Jack and Claire are siblings. Anyone else have guesses?

I watched Extreme Makeover: Home Edition tonight. I tell you, that show can make me cry all the time. Literally my eyes are swollen and a little burning right now. SO SAD!

Let's see... Oh on Thursday I got to go to dinner with my friend Chad from college. I shouldn't have gone cause I was still sick but it was so much fun. We talked about so much stuff from school, and now. I miss college. With that crew. We had such good times.

March Madness begins. Kansas is a #1 seed. Yea!! Lots of good teams of course. I'm sure people who think they should have made it, etc. The only thing worse then not making it I think is making it but having to be in that play in game to get your butt kicked by a #1. This year you get to play Kansas. But I love March Madness. It's just way too much fun and I LOVE IT!

21 days until opening day!!!!!!!!!! This should be the true test of my semester. Studying and still watching my baseball... God I miss baseball. And I think the Astros are going to be pretty good this year so that makes it even better.

Ok, I'm going to sleep. Hopefully I'll be more current and stuff with the blog this week.

Monday Morning Blues...

So I know I’ve been slacking but I’ll try to sneak in an entry this morning…

Weekend was fun. Friday didn’t do much. Just cooked dinner and watched a movie. Saturday, got up, took the dog to the vet. Not sure about this vet yet. They are awesome. Very clean, pretty new building, also and animal hospital, but I just don’t know. They seem to do a bunch of stuff not really necessary. I mean it’s a $40 charge every single time no matter what cause they do this well check. Then, they’re kind of car dealerish in the sense that they kind talk you into all the extras. But they were complete. I’ll give them that. So we’ll see. Here’s a pic of him with his little bandage. I won’t lie, I think it’s adorable.

That night I went out with Whitney because she came in to see her boyfriend’s brother. And I totally called her out on that so it’s ok to say that. I was the afterthought. But I’m ok with that. I got to go out in Ft Worth which I hardly ever get to do so that was a lot of fun. And no matter what made her come to visit, it was a lot of fun to see my sister.

Sunday I was pretty much a bum. I was so sleepy!!!!!!!! Watched some basketball, slept, surfed the net, etc. Saw an episode of Baseball Tonight and was literally giddy. I love baseball! Ryan got to go to the Spring Training game in Orlando over the weekend and sent me a picture. I was so happy. I want baseball to start today!!!!!!!!!! Regular season… Real stuff!

Celeb stuff… what’s going on? Britney’s still in rehab. Lindsay is still pretending to be sober… (please, no one believes you just carry a water bottle around everywhere) And what kind of rehab was it that says it’s ok to go right back to the clubs like the day you check out? And maybe it’s not their fault. Maybe she just did it for show and doesn’t take it seriously. I don’t know. Oh and supposedly Lindsay has been hanging out with Mischa Barton’s ex Cisco Adler while Mischa is in Paris. Ok, you KNOW that Lindsay can do way better then him so she’s just trying to piss of Mischa.

Pretty Addison from Grey’s Anatomy is dating hot Justin from Brother’s and Sisters in real life. I think he’s so freaking hot and she’s gorgeous so I’m ok with that. I give it my blessing. Oh, and supposedly Heather Locklear and Jack Wagner are dating. They would be super cute. And have I ever told you about the major crush I had on Jack Wagner when I was little? My mom used to be a soap opera freak and I LOVED Jack Wagner. I was so upset when I was in Kindergarten cause we would do that send a carnation to someone for Valentine’s thing and my mom sent me one from Jack Wagner. I thought it was really from him and I was SO UPSET. Good times. Ruin me about boys at a young age! Just kidding…

Ok, back to work. Later!
